Music Style
Classical Cello Music. My repertory is naturally mostly based on the classical and romatic style. But I have also included some songs of the baroque and selected works of the late 20th century. |
|
Musical Influences
My famous teachers were Janos Starker and Paul Tortelier. From Tortelier I was musically mostly influenced. When I became his student in 1972 I was deeply impressed by his way of expression in the music. From Starker I learned the most substancial technical way of "surviving". Whith his instruction I could achieve my efficiency in playing which makes cello playing much easier. |

Artist History
I started in 1980 playing concerts all around Europe after winning several international competition. I became Guest Professor in Taipeh/Taiwan were I was teaching cello for 3 years. A first debut in the Royal Philharmonic Hall, London, with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra was in 1975. Tortelier was conducting an I played the Boccerini concerto in B. Although the chance to enter the concert business was pretty good at this time I decided to continue my studies with Janos Starker for some more years. In 1985 I decided to get some better financial circumstances and founded my first computer company (HMC). Since then I was free to decide what to play and where to play. In 1997 I had a bad accident while diving on the Maledive Islands. A big fish almost eat my thumb at the left hand. It took me three operations and more than one year to recover. When I was asked to perform the Dvorak Concerto in 1998 I had to decide whether to do it or give up whith the playing. I did it and also made my next recordings. Almost all recordings here are made after this accident. |
