Artist description
Oilfield is the artist name of Michael Karlsson (=me). My main band is the prog rock band Prime Mover. All my worthwhile (well...) songs that are left over from Prime Mover, I record under the name Oilfield. If you listen to my songs and think I'm some kind of lunatic you may be right, but bear in mind that many of these songs were written with tongue firmly in cheek. Some of them might be more obvious examples of humour than others. The 1999 songs, from "The Periodical 1999" are all humour, but the new songs, from the 2001 release "Hurry To Nowhere" are in some cases serious stuff. |

Artist History
The first time I recorded music on my own was in 1995, after my previous band Mirror Image split up. Nowadays I record something whenever I feel like it. I have participated in many demo projects over the years, I had some twenty tapes with own stuff at home the last time I counted.
The best recording I have taken part in is the prog rock album "Put In Perspective" by Prime Mover. Check http://primover.tripod.com/ for more info. |

Michael Karlsson - Guitar, programming, vocals. On the songs that are featured on mp3.com Roger Nyman plays the bass. He also helped with some sequencing. Thanks! |

Instruments
Guitar, bass, a Boss DR-5, and my vocal chords. I don't think I am a very good singer... sorry about that! :) |

Albums
There have been five demos "released" under the name Oilfield: Knee-deep In Black Gold ('96), A Blast From The Past ('96), What's Serious And What's Humour? ('97), The Periodical 1999 ('99, surprisingly), and "Hurry To Nowhere" ('01). The songs on mp3.com are taken from the two latest ones. "The Periodical 1999" and "Hurry To Nowhere" are the only ones available on cd. |
