Artist description
M.T. Rhoades and his Lonesome Woods Band plays a mix of blues, jazz, country, and rock, in the great tradition of bands like The Allman Brothers Band, The Byrds, Creedance Clearwater Revival, and others. The band tends to lean towards extended jamming whenever possible, and many of their songs lend themselves well to this treatment. They are not afraid, however, to arrange a tune for a 3-4 minute radio accessible format. M.T. Rhoades likes to be able to play for any audience, but they always stay true to the music. |

Artist History
The band formed from the ashes of two popular local bands: modern classic rockers Tramlaw, and pop-punkers Walker. Pat and Dave (Tramlaw) got together with Kenny (Walker) for some jamming. Pat and Dave wanted to continue the tradition of classic rock influence from Tramlaw, and Kenny welcomed the change from the fast pace of puck rock to a more dynamic range of blues influnced rock. After their experience as a three-piece with Tramlaw, Pat and Dave also felt they wanted to go with a fuller sound that a four-piece could offer. After auditioning several guitarists, one day Jeff Clark strode in and blew their minds with his country-flavored rock-n-rollin'. They knew right away they had a winning combination. Soon the band recorded a four-song demo, available on CD format. The demo was well recieved, and has garnered them a wide array of compliments like "You guys rock!" to "Your band is welcome to play here anytime you want." After several months of sitting in with the band, Clay Dilts became a full-fledged member of the Lonesome Woods Band, filling the role of percussionist. Currently the band is playing a busy schedule of shows and working on song writing. M.T. Rhoades will have a song being released on an upcoming Metroschifter cover record featuring other prominent regional acts. The band will spend the summer of 2000 off and on in the studio recording a full length album. The record should be ready for a fall 2000 release. |
