Artist History
Michael's first band of any notoriety was a band named Leo Swift, a hard rock band from the Salt Lake City, Utah area. Which consisted of Mike O'Neil, Steve Whitman, Ricky Phillips, Kenny Rairden and Chuck Richardson. They began touring the Northern and Midwestern United States shortly after the addition of lead singer Stephen Whitman (great voice). . After mixed feelings on the name Leo Swift they agreed and changed the name to Nasty Habit (Great Band!) and continued touring only to defunk a few years later in Kansas City over one roadies stabbing of a groupies water bed on a jealous rampage. Bass player Ricky Phillips went on to play with The Babys and Bad English. After that Michael O'Neil and Stephen Whitman built a recording studio and recorded bands from all over the nation.. Once tired of that and longing to be in the music spotlite again rather than recording other bands they went on a mission to start a new band. They went to Los Angeles to scout musicians and came up with Randy Rand on Bass Guitar (Master of the Airwaves, Wolfgang & Autograph) and Ray Dibaco on Percussion (Super Cheif) and Glen Sherba on lead guitar. That conglomeration formed a Band named "The Lawyers". The band toured with acts such as Cheap Trick, Journey, Eddie Money, Black Oak Arkansas & the Police (sting) just to name a few. Although never receiving enough national recognition needed to push them over the hump, the act was one to be remembered say many fans. Now O'Neil has ventured onto a solo composing career until something falls onto place. |
