For nearly two decades, Michael has been singing songs to people of all walks of life and in all types of venues. From the saloons of the Northwest to the concert halls of Europe, fairs and festivals and West Coast coffee houses, the message is always clear: Michael Dickes writes songs that touch people! In his own words, " If I'm able to pull the listener inside of one of my songs and can quicken their pulse for a few moments, then I've met my goal as a songwriter." His song "Peace & Quiet" was a winner in The Portland Songwriters Association's ’98 Song Contest. His band won the regional Ernie Ball/Rolling Stone Battle of the Bands then went on to become one of 16 semi finalists out of thousands in the National competition to perform in Dallas Texas. Michael’s live performances are energetic, passionate and at times tender. Performing solo or backed by his band, Michael has toured in Europe and in The U.S. and enjoys a very dedicated following in the Northwest. He has had ten songs published by BMG Music Europe and has released six albums. Growing up in a family that was always on the move, Michael soon found music to be his one true escape, his teacher, and his friend. At the age of nine he aquired his first guitar from a pawn shop in Texas. Before long, he began performing in local bands, absorbing all that he could about singing, performing, and the art of crafting songs. He fell in love with recordings by Bob Dylan, James Taylor, Carole King and various old folk and blues artist. He learned the importance of simplicity and the effect that well crafted songs could have on a listener's ear. A dedicated songwriter, Dickes has prepared 35 songs for released on his 35th Birthday.
