Artist History Xanadude Huckstep put the group together back in the early 80's as a way to keep the voices in his head at bay. Armed with a copy of Zapp's first album and a gallon of gasoline to huff, he started work on his FUNKED MASTERPIECE called "The Sassy Astronauts in 'Tail Spin,'" which was a funk hip-hopera about Glam Rockers taking a trip to the lovely SPACED CAMP in Birmingham, Alabama. The SASSY ASTRONAUTS accidentally "BLASTED OFF" in the "SPACED SHUTTLE," with a bunch of SPACED CAMP kids and all sorts of gobbledy goo took place. Unable to land safely by themselves, a SASSY ROBOT helped them out of the JAM and became the second member of the current line-up of the SASSY ASTRONAUTS. ROLLO 808, the SASSY ROBOT was friends with other humanoid FUNK MAGNETS and soon the SASSY ASTRONAUTS swelled to a size of 17 MEMBERS. These recovered tapes are all that remain of the SASSY ASTRONAUTS early 80's recordings, although THE SHOW was RE-RECORDED by SASSY ACQUAINTANCES The Cartwheels, because the original tapes of the SASSY ASTRONAUTS'version were burned in a bizarre fire involving LEE SCRATCH PERRY.
