    Press Reviews
"This is ugly, ugly, UGLY music. Only the most die-hard sludge doom fan will be able to tolerate Goatsblood. That is not to be taken the wrong way; Goatsblood plays some killer sludge, but at such intensity that the album has to be listened to in sections. I mean, I consider my music tastes fairly extreme/brutal and I can only listen to a few Goatsblood songs at a time. Most of the time, the pace is punishingly slow, but there are short segments of brutal blast. Throughout, though, the music is always heavier than elephant balls. I have no lyrics to go on and the song titles are pretty wacky ("Piss Blooded Bitch", "Sign Flappin' Finger Pointer", etc.), but this band definitely rages. Blair's vocals are particularly heinous, from the monstrous bellowing growls to the angry mid-range emissions. In short, this record is like an abortion set to music. Thankfully it only lasts a little longer than half an hour, because this is unnerving stuff. You thought Grief pushed the limits of sludge with Come to Grief? Think again. "-Eternal Frost "Goatsblood offer three tracks of spiraling depression. Goatsblood come from the "play a chord every 30 - 60 seconds" that makes this prime wrist-slashing material. Like a rawer form of Khanate with a benzodiazipine addiction problem."-www.Hellridemusic.com, "Just when you thought everything is over, "Goatsblood" sets in and Goatsblood are also masters of the agro-riff and brainsmashing noise. Slow, slower, Goatsblood. The voice is like a whip that hits you right in the face. These guys deliver three really evil songs and if I say evil, I mean evil"-Daredevil.de, "If Autopsy weren't slow or sick enough for ya, Canada's Goatsblood are the answer to your Satanic prayers. Sure, this ain't got the killer tunes or sheer mind-fucked genius of 'Mental Funeral', but it still rumbles along onthat sloppy deathgrind cum evil sludge doom vibe, only even slower and crustier than the original Severed Survivors. Early Carcass and Eyehategod are names that spring to mind almost as frequently, the slackest of drug-addled slowcore riff-jams stretching just beyond the limit that is comfortable, before whipping into a whirling grindcore spasm. For all that, Goatsblood still trickle away from the weight of their influences to produce something uniquely horrible; maybe this is just considerably queasier listening than any of the aforementioned. Highlights aren't easy to assign, as all the tracks plough the same diseased furrow. I'll just quote the titles 'Dead Children (warm my heart)', and 'PissBlooded Bitch' and let them speak for themselves. This is one seriously nasty, filthy, deranged racket. It rules."-Terrorizer(8/10),"If this is the product of the 'rotten social underbelly of Vancouver', then I feel we owe a debt of gratitude to the Canadian nation. This is the first release I've ever heard described as 'heavy grinding crust sludge metal', but I am now compelled to seek out more. 'Bitterasbile' opens the album as it means to go on, with fierce grating vocals and cymbal crashing percussion. Heavy guitar work complements the mighty drumming and both support the amazing vocal style of singer Blair. There is not a single track present that does not justify its existence. Amazing lyricism and song construction simply add to the reasons why I love this album. The artwork too, although simple, is effective. Goatsblood: an extreme experience. Canada: quite scary!!!"-Chronicles of Chaos(9/10),"Goatsblood make cripplingly evil sounding, grinding sludge that makes EyeHateGod sound like Westlife, and it's no exaggeration to say that this kind of music has never sounded more intense, more ludicrously malevolent or more throat-slashingly violent than these hymns to repugnant brutality. Goatsblood are just about the best thing since sliced human flesh. Quite possibly the best sludge album of all time." -Kerrang!(5/5),"Ouch!!! I don't even know how to explain this but this is definitely some totally whacked out stuff. This is a sludge band that's just slow and drowned out beyond belief. They're not slow and heavy like Burning Witch mind you, but it's more like Noothgrush but the vocals are very non-sludge. What it actually sounds like is if you took a Noothgrush or maybe a Grief LP and played it on 33 instead of 45 like it should be done (hell, take any 45 and play it on 33, it sounds the same). There's really not much left to say about this one. Basically think really good sludge music with some really weird vocals. Pretty good overall..."-Loudnet.com,"Dark, somber, sick, gutwrenching sludge-goth(Huh?!?!)-metal at its finest. From the phantasmagoric art layout, to the manifesto on the inside sleeve, this album is gonna give me nightmares. ...these guys would make jack the ripper quake in his boots."-Lumberjack Distribution
