Artist description
Dirtball's origins can be traced back to the mid 80's when a former punk band got together to play slow acoustic versions of their songs. Through the years, with changing membership in the band, the character of the music evolved from acoustic-lounge punk to more old time plugged-in. Although they now reside fairly close to the alt.country end of the musical spectrum they're never afraid to dig for their roots--wherever those roots may be. Dirtball is a mix of Moonshine, PBR, and House of Stuart Whisky, a kind of Tom Waits meets Hank Williams. Their music is old time angst dealing with temptation, retribution, regret, and the inevitable love gone bad with a lot of drinking thrown in for good measure |

Press Reviews
"...if 'garage' is a term that is applied to rock bands that have a raucous, kind of unrefined sound, then 'barn' would be the only word that comes to mind to describe the sound this band conjures up."--Guitartown" - - Wes Freed's rock-dust whine and the combination of acoustic and electric instruments give the music a real edge. The folk scene needs this kind of kick in the pants..."--Option Magazine" - - 'No Depression' faithful...would do well to check out [Dirtball]; there's a vein straight down the center of this record that connects it with the roots of American music that the more celebrated proponents of that genre can only pretend toward."--Tailspins |
