Artist description
e c l e c t i c r o c k
Each member of s u r f a c e combines raw passion with refined musical knowledge. Performances are dynamic; utilizing a broad sonic landscape and uniting live and programmed sound, the music is a synthesis of the organic and the synthetic.
s u r f a c e's style is distinct while reflecting the influences of each of its three members. The band radiates the intensity of early-Radiohead and ethereality of Jeff Buckley. From the language of jazz, s u r f a c e borrows harmony and from the blues earns its soul. A combination of sequencing and looping adds an electronic edge to complement the live efforts of the trio. Seasoning these characteristics is a unique pop sensibility that keeps the music accessible, while remaining intelligent.
