Artist description
Fibreman is the alias of Mike Phillips, who writes the songs, plays the songs, produces the songs, and generally plays with the songs. The name `Fibreman` derides from an episode of Countdown *uk word game show* in which Richard Whiteley *`star` of said uk word game show* conjured up the superhero from an almost random supply of 9 letters, much to the disgust of Carol and dictionary corner.
The project exists as an intended antidote to manufactured pop and celebrity culture, as well as the post-rock fascination with all things almost unlistenable. The results are intended to be a composed melodic answer to the substandard quality of mainstream music, and the breaking down of barriers between the worlds of leftfield music and more conventional forms of the sonic medium.

Artist History
Fibreman as an entity has existed since May 2003, although some of the music existed before that, with tracks recorded as far back as early 1999. Until this year Fibreman was a side project alongside other work with Fat Tulips Garden and The Dendrites, only now coming to the forefront with a sound described by John Earls of Planet Sound as `sweetly-sung electronica`. |
