Artist History
Dominique initially came together in September of 2002 as just a 3 piece. Adam on bass. Matt on drums, and Dave on
guitar/vocals. After writing 2 songs they fell into a rut of not practicing over the course of 7 months they practiced
maybe 3 times, mostly due to the fact that Dave and Man's step-dad hated loud noise so they were never able to
practice. In April of 2003 Dave and Matt’s step-dad went to Africa for 2 weeks to help missionaries from their
church to build a house, Dave saw this as a golden opportunity, and they all rushed to record their 2 songs with
Matt’s 4-track recorder, and they made a demo tape. They didn't give it to any venues or try to get shows, they
played it for people at their church and got a buzz going. Then when Dave and Matt’s step-dad came back from
Africa they showed him the fruits of their labor and he liked it!!! So he conceded to letting them have one practice night a week on Tuesdays, when he wasn't at home, in Matt’s bedroom with the incredibly large dimensions of
10'x12!! Adam, Matt, and Dave got back in the saddle (or rather in the saddle for the first time) and began
writing material, and due to the fact that Matt’s room is incredibly small they have formed an incredibly tight
sound. Now, way back in December when they were idle their friend Chris wanted to write a song for a girl to ask
her to a dance, and he enlisted the help of none other than our hero Dave. So, Dave wrote a really cheesy acoustic
song and Chris sang to it and the girl said yes, and has since become his girlfriend. Then in the middle of May
Matt decided that they needed a singer because he didn't like Dave singing, so Dave, being the inventive guy he is
and remembering what he did with their friend Chris, invited Chris to come and try out one Tuesday night, he
came, he sang, they liked, he's now the singer of what has become known as Dominique. Since adding Chris to the
line-up the quartet has played at Chris' graduation party (with a wicked crazy dance performed by Adam's
grandpa), at a party for the end of a 2 week mission trip for their church, and have also produced a four song EP
recorded in Matt’s bedroom, and they are ready to start rocking the socks off of San Diego. Chris is 18, Adam is
18 Matt is 17, and Dave is 20. |
