Artist description
Sure, she’s cute. Yeah, she writes memorable, inventive tunes with hooks that inevitably get stuck in your head. Certainly, she’s got a vivacious, interesting personality. What really sets Niki apart from the current crop of alt-pop-songstresses, however, is her voice. She possesses not only a remarkable range and richness of tone, but a phenomenal appeal that is not easily described.
“Whenever people meet me for the first time after hearing me sing, they always say something like, ‘wow, you sound just like someone, but I can’t think of who it is!’, then they struggle to make a comparison. I have been compared to virtually every popular female vocalist of the past thirty years, whether I sound like them or not. I’ve had a number of theories on why people do this, but I’ve come to the conclusion that they just compare me to whatever female vocalists they happen to really like.”
Often likened to Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders, Niki possesses not only a breathtaking range and heartbreaking tone, but also a passionate, emotional quality that she conveys almost effortlessly with every nuance of her mature-beyond-her-years voice. Her on-stage charisma is unparalleled; her performances are electrifying. She is, by turns, funny, fiery, vulnerable, and challenging. Her songs are catchy and memorable, with descriptive, thought-provoking, often deeply personal lyrics, and melodies that you will find yourself humming three days later.
Niki, a Detroit native and former Catholic school girl, currently resides in the suburbs of Phoenix.
