Artist History
Philadelphia based group, PHILASOPHIK, has its roots in two pivotal areas in music. One is hip-hop/funk, the other jazz. The end product couples the sophistication of jazz melodies, color, and improvisation, with the foundation of an undeniable, feel-good groove. Performances featuring PHILASOPHIK are as much a journey for the members as it is for the audience.
PHILASOPHIK is Dave Manley on guitar, Pete Kuzma on the organ, and Shawn Peck on drums. The band not only collectively and effortlessly exhibits extraordinary skill on their respective instruments; but they manage to successfully fill the room with the versatility of the defining characteristic of their music…the groove! They choose their colors from a carefully constructed palette, consisting of an extensive knowledge of styles, including: jazz, funk, hip-hop and whatever else the last 5 decades has offered.
Dave, Pete, and Shawn have also been heavily involved in the “Philly Sound” renaissance. The band stays busy constantly doing countless studio sessions and is currently working on their debut CD, due out the end of 2003. |
