Artist History
The seeds for REX MUNDI were planted in 1998 when Rob Miller met Seven through a mutual friend with the intent of forming a band. Rob's dynamic drumming melded with Seven's aggressive style of bass playing perfectly, right from the start. Personal issues with the third member dissolved the band while they were looking for a front man. Rob and Seven continued playing together with various guitarists, but could not find one that fit their vision of the music. The duo stopped playing due to "major life changes" and "temporary incarceration".
By 2000, life had settled down and the two felt the itch to play... and get serious. So Rob and Seven began practicing regularly, structuring their familiar riffs into songs while creating new rhythms to build on. While on the search for the right guitar player, Seven's brother-in-law Paulie, a bassist turned guitarist, expressed an interest in joining the duo. It did not take long to see that Paulie had the right vision to build upon what Rob and Seven had begun. Paulie's somewhat unorthodox style lends a unique fill and accent to the REX MUNDI rhythms.
With no vocalist to be found, the trio (now going by the name REX MUNDI) solicited their friend Manny to sing some cover songs in rehearsal just to get some vocal cues. Being a trained actor and self-motivator, Manny didn't stop at simply singing the cover songs. Within weeks, Manny was writing lyrics to the REX MUNDI original songs and developing a vocal style to compliment the rest of the music. Manny and Seven worked out lyrics to nearly all of the original music. Manny took the ball and ran, pouring his heart and soul into an explosive presentation. His natural showmanship was undeniable, leading him to become the focused output of the energy that is REX MUNDI.
Josh has filled a niche in REX MUNDI that has expanded the sound of the quintet. Josh's rhythm guitar work has enhanced the tight rhythms that the band is famous for as well as tying the bass and drum work to the lead guitar riffs of Paul's
With influences as varied as Black Sabbath, The Red Hot Chilipeppers, Iron Maiden, Bad Brains, Anthrax, Tool, Soundgarden, Pantera, Rage Against the Machine, The Dead Kennedys and Motorhead, REX MUNDI has developed an original sound that is a pure high-energy in-your-face hybrid of Hard Rock, Metal and Punk.
REX MUNDI began gigging February 8th, 2003 and will continue as long as there are fans that enjoy the REX MUNDI experience.
