Artist description
Longshot formed in 2001 from the ashes of several Sonoma County bands. Their style, while often defying description, consists of many recognizable musical forms including a heavy dose of death metal along with smatterings of jazz, funk, Latin, rock, country, and disco to name a few. That being said, they are influenced by a myriad of sources composed largely of hardcore and experimental artists. They are a four piece band comprised of keyboards, guitar, bass, and drums. Lead vocal duties, as well as keyboards, fall upon Zak Matz, an S.S.U. educated musician trained in both jazz and classical disciplines. Jason Marlowe plays guitar and backup vocals. He hails originally from Alberta, Canada home of Stu Heart’s Dungeon Pro-Wrestling school, Eh? Marcus Lesser plays bass and does backup vocals also. When not living out his rock and roll fantasy he wrestles crazy people and changes their poopy diapers for a living. Jayson Frengel is the drummer and the way he beats them you’d think they were his step-kids. He can also grow a formidable beard if he wishes.
Longshot is a remarkably diverse band. Their live performances are very tight, high energy, and laden with grimaces and logic defying bodily contortions. They have also completed work on their first self-produced album
While they are still essentially unknown, their sheer originality and combined decades of band experience (not to mention a combined body weight of nearly 700 lbs) Longshot would add a great deal to the right venue or labels’ roster of bands. They could do parties, mall openings, moils …… basically these guys are ready to do whatever it takes to make it in this business.
