Artist History
Founded in 1996 by Kevin Waynant and Darren Edwards. They spent 3 years writing and recording at their home studio in Dallas, Texas. Part of the time, Darren was living in Tulsa, OK and flying or busing down for the weekend to write and record. Edwards relocated to Dallas so the group could begin recording their CD at Crystal Clear Sound in Dallas, Texas. Waynant recalls the night he came up with their personalized name: "I was looking through the Dictionary for ideas and came across Wayward - it wasn't until after I had read the definition that I realized it had part of both of our last names". It also sums up their style - From the arena rock Screamer, "Different Days",the alternative jazz-inspired "Simple" and then closing the CD with the ballad and power pop medley "Separate Peace/My Favorite Show" - you never know where they're going next. Flawless production and outstanding engineering make this a "can't miss" classic. |

Press Reviews
"fresh youthful sound, great harmonies...excellent guitar work" - 1998 I Write The Songs Songwriting Contest, The band placed 4 songs in the final round of judging with the wacky "Picture Perfect" winning 3rd place in the Rock Alternative category "great lines; great arrangement overall very good writing" - "My Favorite Show" - 1999 TNN Songwriting Contest..."With a feel similar to the band Journey, and vocals that remind me of Boston, this is a fun power pop rock band with a very pleasant sound and a grooving beat. Great harmonies on the vocals. For some perhaps it's 'been there done that.' I mean it's not incredibly new and mind-altering. Bands like Yes and Queen have done what Wayward does and did it better. However, they are most definitely on the right track. A band to watch. Dallas is their oyster." - Alamo Radio MP3.COM |
