Progressive rock candy-coated for the masses. Led by the wacked-out cosmic guitar of Gabe the Tranceatronic Druid Superstar. Spoken for by Brian, the Gaping Yellow Wound of Truth. Keeps on humming with Lou the Troll Drummer and Ned the Eye-Talion on bass. We do for techincal 10-string insanity what Nirvana did for punk--we put that pink sheen on it and feed it to you SLOW.

    Artist History
The New Mexikans were formed in 1997, the twisted brainchild of guitarist Gabriel Marin. Marin had been playing guitar for only a year, but he knew what he wanted-a rock band (not just a frontman with supporting players) that made heavy, psychedelic, dark but melodic music. Garbiel's talents lay in his sinuous guitar playing and songwriting; he won the Songwriter's Hall of Fame contest in 1997 with The New Mexikans' first single, "Last Laugh". On June 13, 1997, The Mexikans played their first show, with Brian Anwar singing. Brian, who wishes to be identified as a red diaper baby, added exotic vocals and cosmic lyrics to the group's sound. Through 1997 and 1998, The New Mexikans gigged around Manhattan, solidifying their line-up with drummer Lou J. Miller, who's powerful yet intricate drumwork fleshed out the songs. "Back And To The Left" and "Suncusher", the band's independently produced 4- and 6-song demo CDs, were recorded and released in these years, and were sold to an ever-widening fan base. In the 1999, bassist Ned Edison joined The New Mexikans, finalizing the lineup with his rubbery bass lines. The group played two upstate shows that summer, and Garbiel Marin had a breakthrough-writing 50+ songs. In October 1999, The New Mexikans recorded a new single, "Kidicarus," and played at their most prestigious club to date, the Wetlands. The band continues on its quest to blend the melodicism of Radiohead with the obscene guitar crunch of early Sabbath and take over the world.
