Artist History
When speaking of a great music producer, whether it’s Hip-Hop or Jazz music, creativity is one of the main elements that one should have in order to be one. Add talent to that mix and you get one of the best producers in the industry. QUIXOTIC (pronounced “key ah tic”) fits the description for all of the above. With a sound that’s as diverse as his nationality (Haitian/Chinese/Irish/Norwegian), Quixotic has bopped many heads while working with artists such as Vision Quest (“Verbal Sights” Fuzion Entertainment, 2000) Marvin Sewell (Cassandra Wilson), Bruce Mack and the Black Rock Coalition, Mutazz, Ques and Tears. Coming out of Jamaica, Queens, New York, Quixotic has been DJing and producing for over 10 years. After touring Canada in his high school years, he moved on to college where he studied Communication Arts and Recording Technology. While going to college, Quixotic worked at various recording studios in New York City, rounding out his talents by learning the technical and the client relations’ end of the business. After putting in his time as a recording engineer at other facilities, Quixotic opened up his own place, Quixotic Vibes Studio, now located in Floral Park, New York. Throughout his life, such musicians as Ahmad Jamal, Michael Franks and John Klemmer influenced Quixotic. In Hip-Hop, DJ Premiere, Q-Tip and Large Professor were the influences. And in the same vane as his predecessors, Quixotic is here to take care of Hip-Hop and music as a whole. Using blends from different genres and putting them together without compromising any authentic sound or character, Quixotic brings across one of the most unique sounds in all of music. There are influences of Jazz, Rock and Blues when his music projects through to the eardrums. Knowledge of music and experience of the technique of production are key factors that make up the interesting blend. One main point of Quixotic doing his music is keeping it true to the art form and expressing various emotions of the human form. Quixotic wants to move the crowd and have a way to make the audience feel as if they’re a part of the movement. And going back to the diversity of Quixotic’s culture and experience, this makes for a lethal combination and a keen sense of how to have everyone be able to relate to and enjoy the Quixotic Vibes that bang through the speaker. |
