Press Reviews
Journalist turned poet-singer-songwriter Jose Ramon San Juan brings to you a collection of World-Folk songs that hint of romance and passionate emotions. I can't say for certain that this is what the songs are about as I do not speak his native tongue. I'm going on gut level intuition. The tone and musical mood let's you know that this man is an introspective and emotive writer. Dylan and Cohen are sited as having some influence on his writing style. If that is an indicator from were this artist is coming from, I am sure you can get a good feel for what is being communicated, even if you can't interpret it into English. The music certainly lives up to the world billing as it stretches out into different areas of theWorld-Jazz-Latin genres. It's all guided by Jose's deep and commanding vocals. The song structures are solid and have a nice continuity. If you don't appreciate the vocals from a different land then surely your appreciation for good music will be captured by this CD. I am personally open to a variety of musical expressions. If there is value and quality evident in the music, then my heart is open. Music is an art form that can be appreciated in many different ways. Is your interpretation of an art form dependent on your previous experiences and expectations?, think about it. Plain and simple, this is good music powered by captivating vocals. Enter Jose's world for one day and experience his music and words. It's a free ticket to a land you have yet to explore.
