    Artist History
In 1996, musician John Prassas had become extremely bored with what mainstream heavy metal had to offer. The typical combination of bass, guitar, drums and vocals used by most metal bands was becoming very formulaic and predictable, and John's musical taste gravitated towards the underground. He became particularly interested in industrial groups who used electronics in unconventional manners such as Skinny Puppy, and these groups inspired John to create a new kind of metal band. Forming the band Aesma Daeva, he started composing music with an emphasis on synthesis. The original lineup of the group featured Danielle Lang on vocals and John Prassas on guitar. Together, they recorded the track "Requiem," which was quickly released on the DSBP's first ever compilation, entitled Industro Synthesis. After the release of Industro Synthesis, Aesma Daeva started a mass following in the underground electronic music circuit. The band evolved to the next level when John met N. Copernicus, and the two quickly realized a mutual interest in electronic music. They began to experiment with synthesizers, tape machines, scanners, effects racks and synths wired in odd configurations just to see what would happen. After a few power outages and heavy electrical shocks N. Copernicus offered to help produce and record 2 songs. The first track "Darkness" wound up as the first track on the COP International compilation Diva X Machina 2. This release, along with the newly recorded track "Stay," caught the attention of Accession records, who released the group's first full length album "Here Lies One Whose Name Was Written In Water." In October of 1999 John started writing new material for the second album. Keeping with the bands tradition of musical evolution, the concept of the album was faster guitar playing, longer songs, and broader instrumentation, including not only synthesizer, tape, guitars, and operatic female vocals, but also violin, trumpet, flute, and French horn. After two years of writing and recording, the album was released on Root of All Evil Records in America, and Irond Rec in Russia. A truly unconventional album, "The Eros of Frigid Beauty" will certainly find a devoted following in the musical underground with absolutely no chance of crossing over into mainstream audiences. John Prassas wouldn't have it any other way.

    Press Reviews
AESMA DAEVA-"The Eros of Frigid Beauty" The second full length release from this internationally acclaimed composer/musician is so truly great that it is leaving me without the ability to inject colorful adjectives to try and convey its awesome power to keep you listening again and again. Grandiose, majestic, dark, beautiful, deep, classical-gothic-metal hybrid, or epic are hardly scratching the surface or even drawing near to describing its driving ferociousness or its hidden secrets. This fantastic release will unfortunately go unheard to the masses (for the most part) and has guaranteed no hit potential.
