Artist History
Originally formed the summer of 2002, the band soon to be Get 1 Free underwent a series of lineup changes quickly. After parting ways with original vocalist Andrew Johnston, Jon Peterson was moved from drums to rhythm guitar and band front man. A call was placed to Matt Brown who quickly filled the needed position of drummer. Caleb Stokka was the original bassist but do to circumstances was replaced with Tarvy in June of 2003. Once a four piece, lead guitarist Dan Kleven left the band to pursue other things, Get 1 Free finds its set up as a traditional punk style 3 piece. The band is anything but punk music though. "If someone took a rock n' roll band, a punk bad, a pop band, a worship band and through 'em in a dryer, we would be what they'd get," says a smiling Jon on the band's musical style. With full sounding guitars and infectious bass lines, G1F has a musical sound rarely found in a city such as Eau Claire. With Matt Brown’s drumming almost as loud as his facial expressions, Get 1 Free provides concertgoers with a unique experience. With songs ranging from God's never-ending love in the midst of hard circumstance ("Steadfast") to leaving a repeated sin ("You've Been Dumped"), G1F uses real world situations Christians have to go through and face and pairs that with the awesomeness and grace of God. With an unfading focus on doing what God wants them to do, the only place for G1F to go is up. Rock on!!! |
