    Artist description
Initially influenced by composers such as Shostakovich, Bartók and Górecki, Rosciszewski has been intrigued by the folk music of his Polish heritage and has managed to assimilate it into his own style. He composes in a colorful, eclectic style that reflects his passion and diversity of a wide musical palette and developed his style free of any particular school of thought or teacher's influence. He has grown to incorporate his love of progressive rock music in addition to classical music, making rhythm a cornerstone of his work, often emphasizing shifting meters and incorporating song and dance idioms. He was commissioned to compose an original composition by the Evening Rhapsody Wind Trio, the 2002 Council on the Arts and Humanities for Staten Island Premier Grant (COAHSI) winners. Rosciszewski graduated with his Bachelor of Arts in Music – with a concentration in Doublebass and Composition. While attending university, Mr. Rosciszewski performed as section bassist, principal bassist and soloist with the Symphony of Winds & Percussion, Symphony Orchestra, Theatre Orchestra and Contemporary Chamber Ensemble. He has studied Doublebass with Louis Kosma of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and Composition with Dr. Stelio Dubbiosi. Currently, Mr. Rosciszewski is Instrumental Band Director for two elementary schools in New Jersey, performs extensively in the New York/New Jersey area and composes for Eyes On Infinity, the progressive band that he co-founded with drummer/percussionist Vince Livolsi.

Commissioning a new piece of music is an exciting and gratifying process. To have music composed for you or your organization, here's how to commission it: 1. ASK THE COMPOSER To start the conversation and exploring ideas, please email me through this site with an idea of what you'd like to commission. If you have a certain instrumentation, duration, concept, or performance opportunities in mind, that's a good start. 2. DISCUSS VARIOUS IDEAS Based on what you've suggested, the next step is discussing the details to see what's exciting both to the performers and to the composer, and to refine any musical details like size of the orchestra or programmatic ideas. 3. TERMS OF THE COMMISSION Once there's a clear picture of the piece to be written, the next step is to find mutually agreeable terms. Here are some guidelines for how that usually works: 1) The composer keeps the copyright, and you'll get exclusive rights to the premiere, and possibly an exclusive blackout period afterward when no one else can perform or record it. All copies of the music, including publications, will acknowledge your commission and premiere, and generally you keep the set of music from the premiere. 2) Composers always want an archival recording of a new piece, and it's helpful to discuss whether it's OK to offer excerpts online, etc. 3) The commission fee depends on many factors including the duration of the piece, the number of instruments, how long it will take to compose, how busy the composer is with other commissions and deadlines, future potential of the piece, and estimated engraving costs.
