Born Raas Nashanti, this smokey toned Bronx native brings the house down when performing. Saint Rass has the voice, energy, and personality to achieve much. A spoken word poet at heart, Saint Raas writes and sings with a focus on urban Realism, Respect, and Restraint. Music being a reflection of self, her days are spent listening, learning, and writing, while many an evening are filled with studio sessions. Working the club scene for awhile now, Raas has appeared on stage live at various places around the city including B.B. Kings, The Lion’s Den, The Soul cafe, Nuyrican cafe, and The Williamsburg Public House. She has also performed at the private invita on of not for profit groups such as The Goatfish theatre Collective. Recent radio rotation in the new york area (WRKB 90.1, WBAI 99.5) has allowed for Raas’s music to reach a broader audience and gain new fans, who in turn support live events in greater numbers. Raas has also appeared on public access televison. Manhattan neigborhood network’s (MNN) “The Big Show” featured Saint Raas on their fourth of July new artist special where she performed original spoken word pieces with feverish enthusiasm. Saint Raas is also one of mp3.com’s top new artist downloads with her new single “Make Ya Move”. With a full length album in the works, Raas is looking to create positive, powerful music while still evoking emotion within even the most hardened heart. Looking to sign with a major/ major independant record label soon, Saint Raas is sure to have a bright career in front of her.
