Artist description
HARMSTATION opened its doors in May 2003 as side project of the darkwave band Darkmonki. Featuring Darkmonki's Ridley McIntyre and Joe Black, the group was originally formed to provide the soundtrack to Mark Finch's 'Rain City', a computer role-playing game set in a futuristic city where the rain never stops. Over the course of the writing, it became clear that the music had gone beyond its original brief, and moved into a realm of dance-oriented space music all of its own.
Ridley decided in June 2003 to make HARMSTATION a band in its own right, and looks forward to continuing to work on future projects under this title.
Described as the point where Vangelis meets Orbital, HARMSTATION knowingly blends futuristic symphonic electronica with techno beats and basslines, creating a unique mix of soundscapes and melodies, at once both sad & beautiful and edgy & danceable. It is HARMSTATION's goal to provide the listener with a feeling of pleasure in loneliness. |
