Artist History
I have been writing and playing music for well over 20 years.
My daddy gave me music lessons as a kid (I was a virtuoso on the accordion!), and ultimately, I was playing the guitar early on at 11. I started recording in high school, using two tape recorders linked to each other to multi-track! I then got my first real piece of audio gear - an old TASCAM Portastudio.
I learned to play the piano, bass, and drums over those years, as I was arranging tunes for a Top 40 band I was in. I also really spent alot of time writing and arranging my own songs. In college, I got to work in different recording studios in the Rhode Island and Boston area and started experimenting with synthesizers. When I graudated, I began my professional recording career writing
jingles for radio commercials. I used to write the jingles and do the voice-overs too. Ultimately, I did work in many areas, from Boston to NYC.
Now, I spend most of my time on the West Coast in the Bay Area. I am primarily involved in computer recorded music; that is, using my computer as a recording studio. I have many software based gadgets, instruments, and effects, as well as some hardware based units such as the Roland XV-5080 and the Korg Triton. I do all the vocals and production. I can't believe that what used to cost thousands of dollars in studio time back in the day can now be accomplished with a few clicks of a button.
I'm so excited about putting my music out there for everyone to enjoy!
My professional aspirations are to write primarily for other artists and publishers, as well as promote my own recordings. Thanks for visiting! JP |
