Artist History
Rising out of the early nineties metal and hardcore scenes, Malefaction's music has evolved from their first CD recorded in '95 (the melodic and heavy Smothered) to the release of a handful of 7"s and their second full length CD on the Out of Enslavement label, '98's Man Grows Cold. Crush the Dream was recorded in the spring of 2001 with Toronto engineer Daryn Barry (The Weakerthans, Sons of Otis, Voivod). In 2003, Where There is Power There is Always Resistance was recorded with Propagandhi's Chris Hannah in Winnipeg. Over the years, Malefaction has refined their sound and have built it into a grindcore war machine. |

Press Reviews
"The 23 tracks on this disc have added some relevance to the world of brutal metallic-hard core. This is a MUST for all fans of Born Against, and highly recommended for the entire human race. Needless to say, I am keeping this one forever."
Friction Magazine
"From the label set up by members of Propagandhi comes this 25-minute, 23-track album of utterly brutal grindcore. Courtesy of this heavily-politicised Canadian band, clearly indebted to the sonic sickness of the sadly defunct Brutal Truth. The key to writing a great grind album, as Malefaction have obviously grasped, is in knowing when and where to apply the breaks, as well as the accelerator. So, until Nasum put out something new, this'll do quite nicely indeed." 8/10
Terrorizer #95
"Easily one of Canada's best metal bands ... 23 bruising grindcore songs in 25 minutes await the listener here, and this isn't just noise, either. The songs are short, fast and heavy, with an excellent production to boot. The lyrics are all intelligent and dealing with politics, and screamer Travis has a great grindcore bellow. Fans of grindcore, this is probably going to be the album of the year ..." 10/10
