Artist History Frontman and Piano/Guitarist Chris Kalgren had this group in mind for quite a while, but it all came together when he met Dj House and Tyler Jorenby in June of 2003 after graduation from UW-Madison. The trio soon began writing, recording and casually drifting from one bass play to another. Finally, in September 2003, they met George Hadfield. Kalgren is a multi-thematic band, hitting many genres of music with complex structures that remain accessible to the ear. Raw emotion mixed with pure musicianship. Kalgren is looking to pounce on the Minneapolis music scene with energetic shows, introspective songs, and moving music. This is a band to look for in the near future...

Press Reviews Gods of Music.com says this about "sun maker"..........Sun Maker is about five minutes long and its unique structure and nice amount of variation help it to remain compelling throughout. What makes this really stand out from its genre brethren is the raw feeling and emotion that is put into it. Kalgren peel away the somewhat annoying instrumental wankery of jazz and in its place seem to put notes and chords that resonate well with each other. This is the key to making music that is simultaneously complex enough to remain interesting and accessible enough to appeal to people with less trained ears. Kalgren have put together a song that has its roots in the jazz-rock of Dave Matthews Band, but actually manages to be more compelling than most DMB songs because of its wonderful melody and its ability to truly touch the listener. A real winner, and highly recommended listening.
