....The Bloody History
Bloodwritten was conceived in May of 2000. I had been writing a collection of brutal song pieces but was having trouble putting things in the right order. Johnny Wooten, who I met when I was around 14, was someone that I knew that was interested in the style of music that I was trying to produce. He helped me arrange the songs from my riffs and added his screaming voice with perfection. Chris Bennett was in the band Sorrow Bequest with Johnny at this time and we showed him what we were doing and he agreed to do some solo work for us.
Chris was a great help in making the songs complete. The mad man on the drums, Tim Haisman and I had worked together in a punk-style band called Negative State that was known for it's intensely fast pace a few years back. I knew that he would be perfect for the part and I am happy to have the rhythm section in his capable hands. Recently, Steve Busi joined up to handle bass duties live and to play on a few new tracks.
Our first three songs were lyrically inspired by a George Byron poem and were called Darkness One, Two, and Three. We were lucky to have a friend of John's, Neil Harrison, come to our aid and write the chilling phrases in all the rest of our songs.
Our first CD "We Live in Darkness" has been out for two years now and has reached listeners as far away as in Norway, Germany, Romania and Argentina. I thank all of you for your continued interest. Our new EP "Everything Beautiful Dies" should be available by the late spring. There have been some live line-up changes so we could bring the mighty Bloodwritten to the stage. We have added Roland Arthur as our new soloist and he also appears on the new EP.
We take a very unorthodox approach to our recording process. I write all the music and show it to Johnny for arranging. Once that is done I record the final version with Tim in our first 10-15 takes. We don't rehearse the songs before recording them and the vocals, once Neil finishes writing them, are done on the spot as well. Everyone works well together "on the fly" and are the best in their area at what they do. Much appreciation to them and again, thank you for your interest.
