Artist History
The band HIDDEN IN THE FOG was founded under the
sign of the dying year '96. Until today, 4
Releases have been done:
1998: Demo-Tape "Into The Moonlight's Cold Embrace"
1998: MCD "Of Hidden Chronicles & Stellar Fires"
2001: CD "Promo 2001"
2003: CD "Abstract Maelstrom Paragon"
The original band line-up consisted of the five
individuals Ghâsh (guitar, vocals), Gorbag (guitar),
Draug Carcharoth (bass), Grond (synth) and
Muth (drums). During the evolution time of the
music in the following rehearsal-sessions, the
band improved the quality of the songs in the
same way as the musical abilities of the members
grew on and on.
“Into The Moonlight’s Cold Embraceâ€:
After one year of rehearsing and several great gigs, the first demo "Into The Moonlight's Cold Embrace" was recorded during 3 days in a 16 track-studio. The 200 copies of this tape got completely sold out within 5 months, and the response was great (band-feature in the geman ABLAZE-Mag #24).
In April '98 Grond was replaced by Botis, which gave the band new possibilities to transform the songwriter's emotions into musical notes.
"Of Hidden Chronicles & Stellar Fires":
That was manifested in September/October '98, when HIDDEN IN THE FOG recorded a MCD which was entitled "Of Hidden Chronicles And Stellar Fires". This MCD could achieve very good reviews and was taken into the distribution-catalogues of many Mailorders and Stores.
After the recordings, the Bandmembers started to gather all their energy to compose even stronger new music for an upcoming debut CD. Besides this, the presence on stage was enlargened with several gigs all over Germany (more than 20 shows with bands like AGATHODAIMON, NAGELFAR, GUTTED (Hun), PURGATORY, GARDENS OF GEHENNA, AEBA,...). By performing live on stage, the number of supporters and fans increased rapidly, and the bandmembers are trying to keep in touch with these fans via e-mail.
"Promo 2001":
In February/March 2001, the present CD "Promo 2001" was recorded at the Lxounds Productions Studios. It contains approximately 45 minutes of the bands compositions from late 1998 to early 2001. To give a view on the musical concept of these compositions, an extract from a review (Amboss Magazine) is quoted: “… besides an enormous amount of different instruments on this CD, the first think that strikes you right away is the variety of the voices. It reaches from ‘classical’ scream-vocals over narrations up to really cultured and educated singing-voices & choirs. Then, with the required amount of time and patience, the highly complex structures of the songs and harmony-buildings can be explored…â€. And the reactions on this release where almost overwhelming and very euphoric (e.g. 6/6 ETERNITY, 10/10 METALMESSAGE, 6/7 Metal HAMMER, 9/10 ANCIENT CEREMONIES, 13/15 LEGACY,…) and the CD was honored as “demo of the month†in several magazines.
In September 2001, the band dissolved from Muth, whose place on the drums has now been taken by Botis. So the actual line-up consists of:
Ghâsh (guitar, vocals)
Gorbag (guitar)
Draug Carcharoth (bass)
Botis (drums)
"Abstract Maelstrom Paragon":
In December 2002, the recordings of the actual CD "Abstract Maelstrom Paragon" started. This CD comprises the Music which was created since the end of 2001 and was released in June 2003. The Material is melting aggression with deepest emotion, and a certain aiming to musical perfection can not be denied. The delicate guitar- and bass-lines and the polyphonic vocal-arrangements turn these songs into music, which is highly melodic, but always keeps the inner “tension†and strength to keep interesting after many listening-sessions.
At the beginning of the year 2003, HIDDEN IN THE FOG participated on a nationwide band-contest (“Local-Heroesâ€) and won the first price in both categories: the jury-price and the audience-price! This show was broadcasted LIVE by Radio HBW.
