Artist History
I started in church with Gospel songs, hyms, and choir songs, I had a heavy Gospel Quartet, and soul influence from youth ,while being a roady for my parents gospel quartet,I then continued on with Jr. high choir, high school chorus,I recorded my first demo at county fair in 1987 Titled "Yankee Rose",then joined first band in 1987 called "The Dead Animal's", didn't go to far,( maybe it was the name?) I continued on with some of this band's members to the next project,"Sabre" was the name, a true Rock-N-Roll bar band!! we playey various bookings from 1989-1992 ,meanwhile, I worked on another project with a band called "Whitehawk" ,after we won a contest in Muncie IN. we went down to Murfreesboro, TN. to record our first album , i was lead vocalist, the " Sabre" band then dissolved ,and we focused our efforts on the Promotion of our album, called "Whitehawk " we sold quite a few copies of this Rock/Southern rock combo bands Album, (although i can't remember getting much money from any of it),except for the dough we got from the gigs. Most of the money was supposed to go towards the studio costs of the Whitehawk 2 album (which only recently was released by the owner of the band) anyways, the band split when i got in a fight with the manager, after that, the lead guitar player, drummer, bassist, and I formed a new band by the name of "Cheri Layne" this was a hard rock project!! , although ,in the mean time,i made up with the manager of White Hawk , and we decide to turn the band into a Blues/ Rock act, at this time i was the front man for two different acts.I toured with "White hawk" and practiced with "Cheri Layne" when time afforded, after a few months with the blues act ( our bookings were mostly dives)i got tired of the lousy management, and decided to focus my efforts on the Rock project, (after all these guys were really good!!), musically the chemistry was there ,but Business wise, it was not (poor management),(various attitude problems)mostly the beer talking!!well, after a short tour and a 4 song demo, recorded in Huntington, IN. we split!! but still friends, it was then that me, and the former lead player of the "Whitehawk 2 " (Mike Sark) project decided to get together and start writing music ,thus beginning my career in country music, as a song writer, after we wrote several songs, and recorded a few Demos ,i decide to get some Pro advice, by attending Music business seminars in Nashville,TN.,This is where i met some of the people who have helped shape my career, and lead me to some of my greatest contacts in the Nashville scene, like the late, great songwriter Chuck Seals, and Bobby Reed ,Carolyn Hollaran,Deanna Cox (Warner), Paula Erickson(RCA), Harold Shedd(Mercury)Larry Cordle,David Chamberlain,Stonewall Jackson,Bill Monroe( Granddaddy of bluegrass)and many others. Before i recorded my first Country album, i recorded several Professional demos at, Magnolia studios in Hendersonville,TN.,which i plan to release, along with several new songs, later this year...2003,on my long awaited new country album!!!. Moving along now in this story ,i also participated in a contest at the late Conway Twitty's "Twitty City "in Hendersonville,TN.,and won a recording contract, which ,i put on hold, to do a full length Lp album, with a lot of great pickers from around Nashville, produced by Blaine Allen, Chuck Seals, and MEE!!! we had three songs which we promoted off of this album, two were in the top 5 on the indy charts, Paper Dream, and ,Bein' there with you , the other song was the title track called "My boots are out dancin' again"!! i also won a Trailblaser award from American Airplay International for my "meaningful contributions to country music", i am currently working on 2 new projects ,a contemporary Christian album, and completing my 2nd country album, i also have three songs from "MY BOOTS" that are on video,we will keep you posted on further mp3 files that will be uploaded in near future, thanks so much!!! for your interest, and remember!! "KEEP IT COUNTRY"!!!! |
