Artist History
Sophie Serafino is a violinist, singer and songwriter
with a unique blend of pop music. This 22 year-old
London born musician has studied music and dancing for
over twelve years - to a professional level. Although
classically trained, her music is pop and dance an
unusual combination with opera and violin. Sophie began
writing music in 1998 and by 1999 had completed a nine
track demonstration which she performed with full routines
and dancers at various venues around Sydney including Planet Hollywood,
Hard Rock Café and Soho Bar. Sophie began work on her first album
in February 2001. The material for 'Sophie Serafino' was written by Sophie with assistance from Leon Berger on two tracks, and Nick Howard co-wrote 'Give it to me now' with Sophie. Madam Butterfly (Puccini) and Casta Diva (Bellini) are pop re-makes. Sophie has also had acting experience on stage and in short films. She has a strong live performance and a huge energy and imagination for creating music. In February 2003, the album was launched in Sydney independantly. Since then sophie has performed at venues including The Sandringham Hotel Newtown, The Taxi Club Darlinghurst, The Cat'n'Fiddle Hotel Balmain, and the Remy Martin Cognac Appreciation Awards, Port Orient Darling Harbour. Sophie is working on new material for her third album, a closer relationship between violin and pop music. Her upcoming single 'Carmen' will be launched at Winstons Bar, The Stamford Plaza Hotel Double Bay- the night aimed at raising money for The Sporting Chance Cancer Foundation, with special guest Raelene Boyle ex-Olympic Athlete and co-founder of SCCF. The night will include a charity auction, and Sophie's first month of sales will go to the Sporting Chance Cancer Foundation. |
