Artist History
No Frequency was formed in 2000 when lifelong friends, Chris Hall and Mike Romo, met Zakk Newsom at a restaraunt they worked at. Chris and Mike had played together since before their high school days, experimenting riffs and vocal parts to countless efforts. They had since graduated high school and worked at several jobs for almost 5 years before they founded No Frequency. With the addition of Zakk, the "progressive influence," they established the sound that is No Frequency today with Chris on vocals/bass, Zakk on lead, and Mike on guitars.
In the summer of 2001 they met a prospective drummer through some friends and gave him a tryout. The four clicked almost at an instant musically and Brian Lundy was welcomed into the band. It was a short-lived victory for the three in that Brian left due to personal issues soon thereafter.
The band didn't give up so easily, they tried a new bass player (Chris preferred focusing just on vocals) also a new drummer but all with little success. A year later they met Brian at a bowling alley by chance and the four played catch-up. While talking, the three hinted at the fact that the position was still available. Sure enough, Brian called a month later and asked for another tryout.
Brian jammed with the two guitar players for a couple songs after which Mike proclaimed, "Welcome Back!" The four clicked together just like before and with new conviction pushed forward.
The band practiced and gigged for 6 months afterwhich jumping in the studio to record their five song demo entitled, "Silence is Deafening E.P." Right after recording was finished, Brian once again departed, this time under orders from the US Military. The band went into hybernation mode, in which they wrote loads of new material and waited for the day to put it all together. November 1st, 2002 came and Brian returned throwing the band back in full throttle.
Four short months and a couple small gigs later the band was determined to get a full-time Bass player. Without even announcing tryouts, Derek showed up. Derek played one rehearsal with the band and everyone knew he was just what they were looking for.
No Frequency is currently in the works of a full-length, self-released, studio album. |
