Artist description
Blessed with a load of natural talent and skill beyond her years, Jeannette "Kid" Lopez, has been ripping up Portland venues for nearly a year with her special brand of "old school" R&B and soul. Discovered at a jam session in the backwoods of Battle Ground, Washington, by music veteran Eddy "E.Z." Campy (80's Curtis Salgado bassist), "The Kid" was crooning and shouting to beat the band--literally--with only minimal karaoke experience. Campy quickly formed a band around her of Portland blues and rock veterans. Of Puerto Rican descent, Kid Lopez shucks steel as a member of Ironworkers Local 29 for her day job, and sings for the band weekends, Sundays and Mondays. Stylistically flexible from husky Sarah Vaughan-ish intonation, to the Etta James school of attitude, Kid Lopez delivers a refreshing approach to cover material and original compositions.
