    Artist History
Danielle Gasparro is a vocalist and songwriter based in New York City. Born in the Hudson River Valley, she relocated to Florida with her family at age 13. Throughout high school, Danielle studied dance, theatre, voice and music. She went on to major in dance and English at Florida State University, all the while continuing to nurture her other great love, singing. During her 3rd year of college, Danielle’s focus began to change when a friend encouraged her to take a jazz vocal class. Instantly connected to the feel and sensitivity of the art form, she became committed to exploring jazz, and developing her own vocal style. Danielle’s professional career began in Florida in 1994. Performing as a featured artist at clubs and festivals throughout the state, she garnered a strong following as a passionate vocalist with an engaging stage presence. Influenced by Shirley Horn, Miles Davis and other jazz greats, Danielle forged a vocal style all her own - rooted in honesty and emotion, rich and dynamic in tone. With an ear for melody and a passion for creative writing, Danielle began composing her own music in 1997. That same year, she independently released “The World Of You”, a recording that included jazz standards as well as a few original compositions. This recording is still in rotation today at WUCF FM, Central Florida’s premiere jazz station. A move to New York City in 1998 represented Danielle’s desire for artistic growth, as both a singer and songwriter. Influences soon included artists such as Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen and Tom Waits. Danielle began performing out as an original artist in 2000, and since that time has evolved into an artist whose music perhaps defies genre. Her jazz-influenced, lyrically charged originals showcase her melodic sensibility and allow her seductive, dynamic voice to shine. As her audience and artistry continue to grow, Danielle performs regularly for a loyal following in some of New York’s great venues including The Bitter End, Cornelia Street Caf, Bubble Lounge and CBGB’s Gallery. Her passionate music is elevated by world class musicians such as guitarist Steve Cardenas (Paul Motian, Rebecca Martin), bassist Thomas Bramerie (Jean Michel-Pilc, Dee Dee Bridgewater), drummer Steve Hass (Ravi Coltrane, Suzanne Vega) and trumpeter Marcus Printup (Wynton Marsalis, Diane Reeves). Emotive, energetic live performances take the listener on a passionate musical journey, and Danielle’s vocal spontaneity and interplay with the band distinguish her from many of today’s original artists.
