    Artist History
They met on the famous Sunset Strip, in Los Angeles, handing out flyers and promoting their rival bands. Chuck Smith and Chris Nolan were destined to become friends and eventually, band mates. Out of all the thousands of hungry musicians trying to “make it”, these two guys, transplants from the Baltimore/D.C. area, just happened to meet, by accident, soon after arriving in L.A. Each took his own path, but nevertheless, arrived at the same destination. L.A. has had her way with many a musician before these two rookies came along. But dedication and perseverance have a funny way of coming through if you let them! True story: Chris and Chuck, having finished a communal pint of vodka on the roof of the world famous Rainbow smashed the bottle in celebration and promptly “relieved” themselves into the grill vent and onto the hamburgers being grilled ten feet below. Soon as they finished, the local sheriff’s arrived and these two clowns gave the officers the old, “they went that way” routine, and it worked! Guess you could say they’ve been friends ever since. Chuck and Chris remained friends throughout the years in L.A., each dealing with the tribulations and heartache of the local music scene. They were both aware of their desire to play music together, but weren’t sure how to make it happen. As bass players in different bands, they both were instrumental, as the glue that held their respective groups together. However, none of the other members felt quite the same and their groups failed miserably, after promising starts. Now there was opportunity, and Chris jumped on it immediately. He had an idea that Chuck should sing, play guitar, and write songs, because he already did, and that Chris would take an inexperienced singer with a snarling voice and polish the edges to produce a winner! (Many of Chris’ friends didn’t understand his choice, at first!) Chris, after all, had been musically associated with many of L.A.’s finest producers and musicians. Go Figure! After auditioning nearly every drummer in the greater Los Angeles area without results, a friend recommended Peter Dallas. As a top studio drummer, and having played with members of the Stray Cats, Dallas was a natural addition to the band. He immediately became more than just the backbone to the sound of the band- he also became a fan! And if his drive and energy weren’t enough to convince ADD of his conviction, than surely the 120 mile commute to rehearsals would. Nelson Blanton was an old friend of Chris’ and an exceptional talent. He used to think ADD sucked and that Chris was mentally ill. (He is) (So what) Never could he imagine that four years later, he would join ADD of sound mind and body. Nelson is a smart guy after all, and recognized the progress and will of mind Chris and Chuck possessed. After stints with Jason Everly and touring the U.S. with various country acts, he returned to L.A. and began providing ADD with a style and sound like no other. In the studio, Chris dials the sound and Chuck watches the Lakers, but they both share the same love and intensity to make great music. Together they are a song-writing duo that resembles the musical styles of the Beatles and Cheap Trick. Great songs and lots of energy. Their hooks are infectious and their booming rhythms are addictive. This is especially evident when they perform acoustically. They will take you on a three minute adventure one song at a time! Having recently made an agreement with America Records, ADD has assembled and recorded an eleven track CD. A culmination and beginning of five years worth of blood, sweat, and tears. Now they begin their quest to provide fans with an explosive and not-so-clean sound! Come Along if you dare!!
