Artist History It all started in the town of Memphis, Tennessee with singer/songwriter Todd Poole (co-founder and drummer for Saliva). After parting ways with Saliva, Todd fronted a number of bands around the Memphis rock scene, but nothing really clicked until he met hard hitting drummer Vince Hood. Vince had played in many bands around the Mid-South area for years, but Todd had never seen or heard him play. Once Vince sat behind the skins, Todd knew that this was definitely the power he needed to start his new project. Together, the two knew that what they needed to start Rail was a guitarist with power, crunch, and a whole lot of attitude. They both knew a guy named Michael Spann that would be perfect, but he was already in a band at the time. Little did they know that Spann was leaving that band to pursue a heavier direction. Soon the three united and the pieces were coming together, but finding a bassist was turning into a task. So Todd called his friend Patrick Francis who had played bass for a band called Tora Tora. The timing was perfect as Patrick was looking to get into an original project and what better time than now. Soon rehearsals began and the four knew they had something special, but something was missing. Not sure what that something was, Spann suggested adding a second guitarist. After racking their brains for weeks, Todd got a phone call out of the blue from a promising guitarist/vocalist named Shawn Fitzgerald from Jackson, Tennessee. Shawn was calling Todd to get producer Jason Latshaw's phone number at Ardent Studios to work on his own project. After a few times talking on the phone and talking of Shawn joining forces with Rail, Shawn packed his gear and headed to Memphis. Rehearsals began again, and within three weeks the band was playing their first show at the New Daisy Theatre on the world famous Beale Street. Soon after, the band found themselves hard at work at Ardent Studios with none other than Jason Latshaw. Latshaw and the band recorded a four song demo that is currently being played on local radio station 93X with support from station DJ Killabrew and is being shopped to major labels around the country. With their powerful and energetic live performance and local radio support, the band has quickly amassed a huge buzz in the Mid-South area, so prepare to get RAILED!
