Artist History
The Collectors formed in September 2002 when two longtime Chicago 'burbs high school and college friends - Michael Mazza and Tim Mix, decided to finally get off their arses and rock. They started out playing covers of 70s AM radio classics such as "Lake Shore Drive" and "Baker Street" until they realized in January 2003 (in a somewhat Bill and Ted-esque manner) that writing originals is "like a way better gig man". Well it's a year later and they are still performing power ballads in Bic lighter filled rock and roll concert arenas around the world. Michael also plays guitar and lends backup vocals to Mix's solo effort, titled Shake Service International. Since January 2003, this formidable duo have written approximately 15 original tracks, with plans to perform live in the not so distant future - once they find a bassist and keyboardist looking to rock. The Collectors and Shake Service International songs to date include such K-Tel classics as "One More Day", "Jane Doe", "It's All, It's Alright", "Glimmer", "She's Set to Explode (From Too Much Shaking)" and "Two Ships." |

Instruments
We like to feature the cowbell in our rock and roll music compositions. We strongly believe that this multi-dimensional, versatile, and complex instrument has been vastly underappreciated since the days of when legendary 70s rock and roll artists such as Foghat, Pat Travers, Molly Hatchet and Nazareth made it a critical staple during their remarkable live performances. Besides cowbell, we also feature vocals, rock and roll guitar, Reebok high tops, bass, various pots and pans, Billy Ray Cryrus-esque mullets, percussion, keyboards and an impressive collection of Toro lawn mowers. |
