Artist History
Formed in late spring of 2000 by founding member Billy Dynamite, you could not have assembly a more musically eclectic cast at the time. Straight out of the bleak and artistically “numb” Midwest, Billy D. (vox, guitar) was joined by Kurt Wegner (drums), Aaron Jacobs (bass), and Brad Blazer (lead guitar) in that order. The Tikis (as they were known in the early days) were modeled after a conglomeration of 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s style music with ever-present punk rock energy behind it. Most of the material consisted of originals with the exception of a few obscure covers.
It wasn’t long before the Tikis abandoned their pre-conceived style for a natural evolution of honest, real, roots-based Rock ‘N’ Roll influenced by everyone from Eddie Cochran to Johnny Cash, AC/DC to The Ramones, Bruce Springsteen to Buddy Holly, Social Distortion to The Supersuckers, and so on. The band became known as The Injectors and shortly thereafter were renamed Sin City Injectors to better accommodate their new identity. As important as the music was to them, it was also very important for the members to view themselves and their band as something bigger, louder, more evil than just musicians – ENTERTAINERS. The band starting playing shows in the hellacious Midwest club scene which in many ways drove them to express their emotion and punk-rock tendencies on stage. Sin City Injectors shows can be likened to a violent wreck or fist fight – you either love it or hate it, but cannot ignore it. Fans have been quoted as saying “I was afraid to leave the (Sin City Injectors) show” or “They’re the best goddamn country band I’ve ever seen.” Call it what you like, Rock’N’Roll, Rockabilly, Punk, Country, or whatever else you see fit Sin City Injectors are a thorn in the side of all things musically predictable or commercially safe |
