Blues rock with the flavor of the Texas Hill Country
    Artist History
I was born 31 years ago in Waco TX, where I spent the first half of my life consumed with hunting and fishing. The great outdoors was my thing. Music however, “struck a chord” with me early on. As a youngster, my only musical experience consisted of my older brother’s album collection and stereo, which was constantly spinning the best classic rock of the 70’s. Actually playing an instrument however, began at age 11 on a piano, but was short lived due to some unexplainable adolescent fear that piano was only for sissies. Twelve years later while attending Southwest Texas State University, I picked up my first guitar, and instantly became consumed with the ability to possess music in my fingertips. I learned to play by ear, and it was not long before I became drawn into the world of blues guitar. Obviously, the blues are all about soul, and I loved the way they made me feel, whether I was playing them myself, or merely listening to the blues masters. Day in and day out, I was listening to, and jamming along with the blues. Growing up, I had written dozens of poems, short stories, limericks, and freestyle writings, as writing was, and still is, one of my favorite outlets. As my guitar playing advanced, I began to draw from my earlier cache of lyrics. I scarcely recall where they all came from, but in no time, I had a handful of original songs. Until that day, the thought of a band was non-existent. If anything, it was impractical, as I was, and still am, a professional hunting and fishing guide, and I was spending the duration of the fall months working in the mountains of the Great Northwest. But sometimes, things just have a way of working out. After working up a couple of sets worth of music, original as well as cover material, I started an acoustic duo with a good friend and great guitarist named John Ray. With a die-hard group of friends supporting us, we began gigging regularly, and in the process, I discovered my voice. It was through the music scene itself that other players began to surface. I met players of all kinds, and soon built a rock and roll band comprised of a lead guitar, rhythm guitar, bass and drums. Over the years the band and the music evolved, but our first unexpected break came when were selected by 99.5 KISS for the “Texas Battle of the Bands” contest, where days earlier I had submitted our only recording. We advanced to the finals in Austin after an exciting win in the semis in San Antonio. After winning the finals for the State of Texas in 1998, we were almost overwhelmed. The first album, “Hourglass” was soon released independently, and we began playing venues, openers, and festivals statewide. It was a thrill indeed, and I was fortunate to meet a lot of great people and bands alike in the process. I extend my thanks to all the players who jammed with me throughout the years. Today I continue to play shows of all types and sizes, but I still consider myself a lyricist first and foremost. The future holds great things, and music is still a saving grace to us in all our daily lives. Get ready for the next CD, and feel free to e-mail me with any thoughts, suggestions, opinions and ideas. We’ll see you at the next gig. As ever, Hugh Fadal

"Along with lyrics and a knack for vocal expression, the melodic sourthern harmonies and powerful guitar work is the signature of this band's tunes" -Gordon Collier-CBS News
