Artist History
Kevin "The Undah-Dub" Donaldson started djing when he was in Junior High, spinning an eclectic set of r&b, soul, rap and funk. An early fan of Prince, MFSB, David Bowie, The Undah-Dub started making a name for himself at local school parties. In the mid 80's, The Undah-Dub was introduced to the underground house music scene and the likes of Frankie Knuckles at the Warehouse, The Hot Mix Five and Steve "Silk" Hurley on WBMX.
The pursuit of a degree in Marketing and Business Administration led The Undah-Dub to Miami Beach, Florida where he immersed himself totally in the burgeoning local house music and club scenes. With a definitely dark and funky house sound, his dj sets became known for their energy, their relentless infusion of funk, soul, techno and disco. Before long, The Undah-Dub was headlining at almost every major club in the area: Paragon, Groove Jet, Liquid, Lua, Warsaw, Zen, etc... The Undah-Dub was also being booked for guest spots in venues in New York, Washington DC, Germany, London, just to name a few.
While djing, The Undah-Dub still managed time to launch a successful internet dance music magazine (www.vybemuzik.com) and a well respected dance music record pool in Miami, release a mixed compilation CD "BeatBox 2002 - Essential Hard House" on Street Beat Records and several remix projects on various labels. For close to two years, The Undah-Dub contributed to the exposure to new music of a whole generation of club kids and local djs as the domestic dance music buyer for The DJ Store in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
As a writer/reviewer for such magazines as Miamigo and vybemuzik, a chart reporter for DMA Magazine, his own weekly radio dance mix show on WOMB FM www.thewomb.com, The Undah-Dub continued to deliver memorable dj sets at such clubs as Liquid, Lua, and Glam Slam.
Since mid-year 1999, The Undah-Dub has resided in New York City expanding his contribution to the dance music scene. While doing A&R for Decibel Recordings, The Undah-Dub continues to dj extensively throughout the US and abroad. He also makes bi monthly appearances at clubs such as, Crobar in South Beach and Red in Washington D.C. in addition, he continues to build his ever-growing production portfolio, with consistent diligence. After having a huge dance hit with his single "Another Day", under the guise of The Brandy Syndrome, his music career has taken off and his producution schedule has been quite solid these days. Currently his new single "I Didn't Say It" is making bigger noise in America, Europe, Japan and abroad. He also awaits a handful of singles and remixes that are scheduled to drop by years end. Currently The Undah-Dub is working on a new album, set for release in late 2002, don't count this one out anytime soon.

Press Reviews
Brandy Syndrome f/ Brad Raker– Another Day (Decibel Records)
IT’S ALL ABOUT THE UNDAH-DUB AND DJ SOL!!!!
Holy shit…finally I get this piece of wax in my possession. This is gonna get some serious play and very soon. Watch out Sacramento!
For real though, solid disco job done by mr. Dub, filters all in the right places and pieced together quite nicely for those “pumpin sets”. DJ Sol, my man Carlos Porras, keeps it true. Solid percussion programming that never stray into anything too complex, making for a solid mixing record. And when you are done playing with his beats, the vocal drops in to thicken the Soul. Find it…Grab It!
If I were to have just heard these tracks played out, I would of thought it would have been a disco dub from Mazi…very Afterhours sounding production…

Identity Crisis - Time Constraint EP (Lap Dance, USA)
Producers: CJ Burken and Kevin Donaldson
This collaboration sees DJ and producer CJ Burken from NYC hook up with his good friend and an accomplished DJ himself, Kevin "The Undah-Dub" Donaldson, on this four track EP. From what I can recall, "Do It" and No Trust No Love" deeper, more tribal dubs, first appeared on demo at the WMC of 2000. Good to see them on vinyl at last. Bringing to life his club ideas from stints at The WOMB/Vybemuzik/Plastic City, Kevin Donaldson captures this on "Svelte". There's a lot to be said for sub woofing bass lines and tribal beatings of drums eloquently laid on top of harmonizing synthesizer, as it demonstrates very well . The remaining track "Never Let You Down" centres around a classic female sample which raises the pace and will suit those AM dancefloor keepers, as well as jocks such as Carl Cox, Colin Dale, Derrick, Carter, Dave Clarke or even Louie Vega. It gives you some idea of their strength therefore the weak need not apply.

Raker Project - One World (Decibel Recordings)
Lorida innovators Brad Raker/John Alvarado of the breaks scorchers M-Five dubut their first release for the upstart house project affectionately named after Brad Raker. The original is a pumping Peppermint Jam styled hip swinging cut. Loaded down with chanting and cool vocoded vocals. I was really blown away by the M-Five Herbicidal dub, which I was expecting to be a kick in the ass (superb). The Undah-Dub mix is choice with dirty banging loops and tech house style drums and unbelievable energy. The code mix was a straight ahead trance track with a minimal german influence. This is a top notch debut from this new up and coming florida label. Can't wait to hear the next M-Five bomb. This is a clubland essential.

Ser Jaye - Mahal Kita (Undah-Dub's Autumn Sunrise Mix) (Newlite Muzik)
A wonderous slice of sanctuarious deep vibe musique. Solemn atmospheric synth intro, simple breaks, looped vocal and a delving musical bass are the basis. Extra percussion add an intellectual level, while understated melodious outpourings add another dimension.

The Undah-Dub - 4 - (Sounds of M…)
Back to smoke all your cares away is the seductive and sweet talents of one of my fav house hunters. You know afer he has dug his way into the deepest pits of the house to find the real elements, Undah-Dub is not gonna leave without taking a few prisoners, and with a kick of darkness he starts off this F-I-E-R-C-E mix CD. If you remember the Chi-lites saying "you gotta give power to the people…" then you know what I'm talking about. This whole thing is about power and the power of people. Mixing his way throught eh wax he keeps increasing the pressure until you think you will almost explode. Some already recognizable tracks include "Rise" by Eddie Amador. It's a journey in and out and around some very tight house records. With all these great songs in one CD, it makes you wonder why house musik is not the most popular sound today. Check out his latest Session 4 and you'll know why my copy is internally imprinted on my mind

The Undah-Dub feat. Grier - The Things That You Do (Reflective Music, UK)
Focusing definitely on the deeper end of the spectrum, is this original number from The Undah-Dub. Using throbbing breaks, a hi hat and ounces of dub styling complementing the grooved bass and low vocal well. Enigmatic keys rise and fall all the way over the main melody. Extra percussion skims over the bass fuelled breakdowns, with off keys and reverbs as well. An eye opener, with a deft nod to the cut and paste realm of some productions.
