Artist History
The band were formed when Roger Dabbs and Don Sergio approached Brian Carter as members of the Features, a local Murfreesboro band. They wanted to perform his songs, so he said "OK". It turned out that Don eventually left the Features, was in a state of limbo for several months, and needed something to do with his life. Brian and Don talked and talked but nothing happened. Then something happened. Don got the idea to call David Henderson, formerly of The Roaries, and ask him to play bass. Roger Dabbs, while no slouch himself on the instrument, was still a member of the Features, which made it difficult for him to play lots of gigs. But David Henderson and Don had always fancifully dreamed of being in a band together, and here was their chance. Don was right; Henderson smoked. Cigarettes, yes, but really he smoked on the bass. That was the main thing. When they played togetherfor the first time it was a match made in heaven. They obviously were meant to be together and playing rock music, which they have been ever since. Long live the Preservatives, and long live Rock! The Preservatives like to play heavy Rock music and make people have crazy visions of debauchery. This is their calling. It is rock music they must make, and rock music they in fact make. Yes! |
