Artist History
The Incredible Venus Flytrap formed in August of 1997 in response to a call for local musicians to play on the soundtrack of a Buffalo-made movie. Guitarist and harmonica player Michael P. Iten, formerly of the Buffalo original group The Neurotic Blondes, joined with his brother Brian Iten, who had just parted ways as bass player and vocalist with his band, Dizzy Moses. The two called on Brian's former jam mate, Dan Schieder, a powerhouse drummer and winner of numerous all-state music titles, to start the band. The chemistry was instant, and after several months, they recorded the band's debut EP, We Love You, which has since recieved favorable reviews in such publications as Night Life Magazine and The University at Buffalo's weekly publication, Generation. The band has been nominated for Best New Original Band in the 1998 and 1999 Buffalo Music Awards, and have rocked audiences at countless venues across Western New York. |
