Artist History
Sonny Mayo, who played and wrote a majority of the music for Geffen Records recording artists Snot, was the rhythm guitarist of the band. He is now currently with Amen, who is on I AM records led by the mastermind Ross Robinson (Korn, Soulfly, Slipknot). Ross' label is affiliated with the booming Roadrunner Records. Mayo, Benji Gaither, and Louie Denslow started jamming back in the mid 80's when the likes of Testament, Metallica, Anthrax, S.O.D., and Slayer were becoming household names. They started Necrosis, added bass player Jason Robinson in 1989 and drummer John Mayes in 1990 and eventually became known as Silence. Silence quickly grew a large local fan base and played weekly around D.C., and also played in North Carolina, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, New Jersey, and New York. Their first and only CD, entitled "Vision" was released in 1991 independently. Also recorded 3 song demo with Brad Divens (Souls at Zero) at Pyramid Studios in Ithaca, New York with then infamous Alex Perialis. Alex was the backbone of records such as Anthrax, Testament, Overkill, and S.O.D. Disbanded in summer of 1993 before a record deal was ever offered. |
