Review
Michael Ricordati's "Sleepy Little Goddess" is awakened with a series of uplifting compositions consisting of Jazz-New Age-Fusion. Instrumental music is perfected within the form of a conceptual vision through the artist's eyes. Ricordati builds the beauty of a vanished world in your mind with the enduring quality of his music. The sparks of intelligence fly all around you while listening to layer upon layer of calming ambrosial musical pleasure. This music has a renewing effect upon you. I really enjoyed every arrangement. This CD helped me feel the warmth of the sun and the beauty that surrounds me. A positive and complete experience.

Review
Michael Ricordati's "On the Edge of the Western World" is an impressive collection of imaginative jazz ensemble work led by highly creative synthesizer voicing and ever changing rhythms. Except for, "Frag Simple", there is little that you will set your toes tapping and there are no lingering melodies that will stay with you on the way to work. That said, "On the Edge of the Western World" offers a unique and entertaining musical experience. It takes a while to get into it because of the complex and changing beats backing up Ricordati's imaginative, freewheeling "surprise" organ style music. But, the listener is gradually drawn into a world of musical fun that will never be boring after repeat listening. Ricordati manages to take the flatness found in most arrangements with a synthesizer lead and softens it with amusing nuances and unpredictability. The rhythms are mostly Latin and heavy bass and percussion set the mood throughout the CD.
Ricordati kicks off the CD with organ madness reminiscent of what a Jules Verne arrangement for Captain Nemo might sound like. It's scary, but it's a great introduction to a creative jazz genius for the 21st century. "Edge of the Western World." will bring diversity and intelligence to any jazz enthusiast's CD rack.
