Artist description
The question is this, If you placed a Jamaican born MC on a fly ass Hip Hop track and told him to flow without losing his yard essence (Jamaican Vibes), what would you get? Most likely confusion of course, unless the emcee was KALI RANKS! D. Moulton p.k.a KALI RANKS was born and raised in Kingston Jamaica, and later moved to New York City where he honed his skills. Kali would be the first to admit, being raised on the streets of Rose Lane in a rough political climate, and then later in Brooklyn, plays a large part in his "no-nonsense" militant aura. Influenced by artists such as Shabba Ranks, Papa San, Rakim and KRS One, and fused with his passion for writing, it was inevitable that KALI would be heard. Although Kali is largely know for being a solo artist, he's also a member of Militant Orlando Power House Hip Hop Family, "WARHEDZ". Performances sometimes includes a band, depending on the venue. |

Press Reviews
"Jamaican-born emcee comes with impressive ragamuffin rhymes set to understated acoustic guitars, mellow pianos, and pronounced hip-hop beats. Skilled flows and singing address the widespread obsession with money and his prowess on the mic." (Reviewed by Brolin W. www.listen.com) YO! PEOPLE SLEPT ON THIS SONG AWARD:(www.DaveyD.com) Other jams folks slept on include, Kali Ranks "Kill Dem All", 2Pac's "My Block", Kool G Rap's "For The Brothaz", Doug E Fresh,'s "Original Old School" COZ's "In My Neighborhood" and Mad CJ Mac "Come Take A Ride". ("THE SHOW" soundtrack review by Davey D.) Undescribeable! This joint rocks, download now, then buy the cd "Return of da REELZ" available (Change Music release: 16 Nov 99) There are a few I skip right over, such as Onyx Live!!!, Jayo Felony Zoom Zooms and Wam Wam, and LL Cool J Papa Luv It. In contrast, the tracks that make the disc worth the pain are The Dove Shack's sweet harmonizing on Summertime in the LBC, which I think is an archetypical example of G-Funk; A Tribe Called Quest Glamour and Glitz; Isaac 2 Isaac Ol' Skool, which is paired nicely with the Dove Shack; Kali Ranks Kill Dem All brings dancehall with a hard hip-hop beat; and finally, The Notorious B.I.G. and the Roger Troutman-sampled My and My Bitch (Sound Track review by www.randomshiznat.com September 99') |
