Artist History
These tracks represent the talent and generosity of members of the original MC-505 Groovesource Groovelist internet maillist and a 100% internet-enabled production! After one successful contest, another was embarked upon by Ras Griessenbock and others to teach each other about production techniques, to have fun and also to make a difference in the world. Here NOISION RECORDS, based in NYC, led by attorney Ravi Sharma, himself a Groovelist member and active electronic musician, stepped in promising to release these tracks and donate all profits to Amnesty International while still allowing the contributing artists to retain the rights to their music in the spirit of www.mp3.com; and to provide the music for the first of NOISION's revolutionary "EXPOSION" Compilation series distinguished by its refreshing combination of charitable giving and exposure of new talent and distribution of the best new music from around the world. In October, 1999, the list members, via email alone, set forth entry requirements and the members donated their tracks anonymously. This MP3 website provided the means for all the list members to listen and download all the tracks. After the contest closed, voting began. A complex but fair system was devised and votes were tallied. Artists from all over the world, including, Japan, Switzerland, Sweden, USA, Canada, Peru, Spain and Australia provided music. Voters from around the world logged their favorites. The administrators of the contest have never met each other and live in New York (Ravi Sharma), England (Ras Griessenbock) and Florida (Chris Anderson). All the music here is licensed and available for distribution. This is the miracle of the internet and the dawn of a new way to collaborate and raise world consciousness and funds for worthy causes such as Amnesty International and to promote new undiscovered talent. This is the new theory of freedom and the reason for FREEDOM THEORY 505. Enjoy the experience and help the neediest by purchasing these CDs today. |
