Artist History
With their third album "Fireflies", Drughoney has made an emotional rollercoaster ride. Fueled by the rage, sadness and peace in their lives, the emotion drips off the album in waves that wash over the listener and lets them know they never have to feel alone in their journey. Drughoney have been leaving their mark on people's lives since 1996. And to think it was a song called "The Greater Pain" that started it all. They went on to make "Long Dead Silver" in 1997 and "This Little Light of Mine" in 1998. The connection with their audience was growing intensely. Known for their fierce and emotional shows, people came back to see the band they felt understood them. The band would come off the stage exhausted. "I let out all my demons onstage, and the people let out theirs", says Jasin. They've opened up for many bands including L7, the Reverend Horton Heat, Deftones, SOAK, Drain STH, and Marcy Playground. The fact that the bands they've opened up for are so diverse is something to say about this band. They would never fit in any one genre. Hearing the first cut off the album, "Fireflies", might suggest hard rock and even metal. That is until the chorus brings over a sense of emocore bands such as Sunny Day Real Estate and Jimmy Eat World. Then there are overtones of The Cure found in "Watersigns" and the gentle beating of a young Deftones on "When it Comes". The one thing that unites all these songs is a sense of real stories behind all the songs. "Took away my love/ took away my hate/ took away my love/ and you washed it all away" sings Jasin in "Del Rio", right before the guitars knock down every wall just like the flood that destroyed 3 of the member's hometown in 1998. "Has anyone hear had a one night stand?" they'll ask. You'll remember that one that you wish would've been more, as the band reminisces with you on the beautiful "Around". "I'd like to see you around", and you'll find yourself singing right along with them.
