Eventually my fears subsided and AluminumKnotEye started to overcome my defenses. This four piece plays a brand of jagged post-punk that's got some adherents amongst the kids in Chicago; its a blend of Lyres-like garage and Chrome-style synaptic damage that bears at least a tangential resemblence to no-wave.
