Artist description
In Zen art, the word yugen describes a mysterious vagueness, a subtle order of beauty. With yugen-the-project, Keith Rowley-Yugen explores his attraction to the obscure and exotic, and the relationships between the mind and body, self and world. |

Artist History
yugen was born in Shreveport, LA, in 1987, when Keith Rowley-Yugen, inspired by friend and accomplished musician Geoff Walden and their joint project King Felix took off. Geoff's simple approach to music composition let Keith realize that he had been thinking too much in his own compositions. Walden would simply walk up to a synthesizer and start innocently striking keys and twiddling knobs & sliders. Rowley-Yugen was amazed! How could anyone simply step up to such a complex musical instrument as a modern-day synthesizer and just start screwing around? Where was the discipline? Where was the planning? Rowley-Yugen dealt with these questions while tremendously enjoying the immediacy, the sincerity, and the freshness of Walden's music. |
