Artist description
The underdogs are a band from the Gulf Coast specializing in rocking original blues and roots music. Always a crowd-pleaser, the underdogs are known for their potent delivery and electric stage presence, all served up with a healthy dose of good humor. Since the release of Unleashed the underdogs have been fortunate enough to have garnered broadcast radio airplay around the world. In addtion, their music has been featured on ESPN and most recently figured prominently in actor/playwright Thom Gossom’s (Fight Club, West Wing, N.Y.P.D Blue, Heat of the Night) one-man-play, Speak of Me as I Am. The dogs have shared stages with the likes of Ritchie Havens, R.L. Burnsides, North Mississippi Allstars and Spencer Bohren from Nashville to New Orleans, Key West to Madrid, Spain. |

Artist History
The core of the band, JAB Wilson and Bill Garrett have been working together since 1994 and, over the years, have had the good fortune to have worked with some of the Gulf Coast’s finest musicians, including David Cousar, Shawn Curle and Pat Prichard. Bill Garrett (bass, guitar, vocals) has been playing music professionally all of his adult life. His smooth vocals and fluid bass are fundamental to the underdogs’ sound. Bill was a charter member of the semi-legendary band, Hubba Hubba. He and JAB also perform as the dynamic duo, dos underdogs. JAB Wilson (harmonica, backing vocals) gentleman harmonica player, has been touring and recording since the late 60’s with such artists as Kate Taylor (James’ sister), Tim Buckley, J.D. Souther and most recently international bluesicologist and story-teller, Spencer Bohren. Steven James (guitar , vocals) joined the band in early 2000. His stinging guitar and soaring vocals make for a strong double whammy. He is a pro in every sense of the word, having worked in bands around the South for the last twenty-five years. We have a rotating list of excellent drummers! |
